Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has signed into law the 2025 supplementary budget of ₦137 billion, shortly after its approval by the Katsina State House of Assembly.

The budget, which earmarks ₦126.8 billion for capital expenditure and ₦10.2 billion for recurrent spending, aims to accelerate the completion of key infrastructure projects and sustain the government’s ongoing development initiatives across the state.

Speaking at the signing ceremony on Tuesday at Government House, Katsina, Governor Radda commended the State House of Assembly for its swift deliberation and passage of the budget, describing their action as a demonstration of shared commitment to the progress of the state.

“I commend the Honourable Speaker, Rt. Hon. Nasir Yahaya Daura, and all members of the Katsina State House of Assembly for their prompt legislative action on this critical bill. Your commitment to the development of our state is truly commendable,” Radda stated.

According to the Governor, the supplementary budget was necessitated by increased demands from various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) whose capital allocations had been exhausted due to the fast pace of ongoing projects.

He further explained that the majority of the new allocation will go toward completing ongoing infrastructure works, including roads, schools, hospitals, water supply projects, and agricultural support programmes.

Governor Radda reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transparency and accountability in implementing the budget, assuring that every naira would be spent in line with the people’s interests.

During plenary, the House Leader, Hon. Shamsuddeen Abubakar Dabai, lauded the Governor’s performance, describing him as one of the best-performing governors in the country. He said the supplementary budget was timely, given the number of ongoing and completed projects across the state.

The House had earlier referred the budget proposal to the Committee on Appropriations, which later presented its report, paving the way for the bill’s passage.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by key lawmakers, including Hon. Ibrahim Dikko Matazu, Chief Whip of the House, and Hon. Lawal H. Yaro, Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation.
